Custom-designed Educational Programs

Knowledge and understanding of nature conservation is not something that people are born with. Neither is it something that can be learnt just from a book. While basic information can be obtained from books and listening to knowledgeable people talking, understanding of native plants and animals and their conservation can only come from ‘getting out in the bush’ and seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching ‘ecosystems at work’!

NaRLA offers a wide range of educational programs, a strong and persistent feature of which is ‘learning by experiencing’.

While we do offer some ‘pre-packaged ‘ educational programs, we much prefer to custom-design programs specifically to meet the particular needs of the people who will participate in them. This process entails finding out exactly what a particular group of people want to learn about, how, when, and where they want to learn about it, and then designing, organising and delivering an educational program that meets their precise needs.

Types of educational programs available

The format of our educational programs, like the content, is determined by the particular needs of those for whom the programs are designed.

The types of programs provided by NaRLA include those listed below. Click on the type of educational activity of interest to you to see whether there are any currently open for general enrolment. If there aren't any available at present that meet your interests or needs, contact us (use the link in the margin) and tell us what you are interested in so we can advise you on future plans.

For whom do we provide educational programs?

NaRLA’s highly experienced team of specialist educational program designers and managers will custom-design educational programs to satisfy the nature conservation and related interests of a wide range of groups of people, including:

  • landholders and land managers of all types,
  • professional practitioners in nature conservation and related fields,
  • educators,
  • university students:— academic summer or semester-long programs can be custom-designed to parent universities’ and colleges’ specifications and supervised in Australia by parent university or local Australian academic staff. Our design staff are specialists with 20 years experience custom-designing, organising and managing study-abroad programs in Australia for American universities’ and colleges’ student groups.
  • natural history and wildlife conservation groups,
  • commercial nature tour operators and guides, and
  • nature lovers in general.

NaRLA can custom-design and deliver educational programs of any duration on topics relating to nature conservation, rural land management, diversification of income generation on rural lands, or the integration of all three. Programs may range from half-day workshops on 'Biodiveristy' for landholders, through two-week Australian wildlife tours for nature enthusiasts, to four-month, multi-site, academic programs for groups of overseas university or college students.

If you would like to enquire about having an educational program custom-designed for your professional peers, students, natural history or other special interest group, on any topic or theme related to the Australian natural environment, Australian native flora or fauna, or nature conservation, please contact us using our enquiry/order form.
